The Faivish Ryzow's branch

The third child of Mendel Ryzow and Sura Widodroz was a son named Faivish, born in Zuromin in the late 1860s (?). He married Rachel. They had four daughters and one son. We know the destiny of three of their daughters: Rivka, Dvora and Esther. Faivish had a reputation of an anti-religious activist, he was one of the very few Jews who dared to smoke on Shabbes. This reputation he shares with one of his nephew, Leiser Gruszka (son of this sister Leah), whose's favourite trick was to go to the non-kosher restaurant, and choose a seat in the window where the Jews of Zuromin, parading up and down in the main street, couldn't fail to see him as he ate his pork knuckles.

Rivka Ryzow was still in Poland in 1939. She went to Siberia for shelter and will spend there five very difficult years, living and working in an anmunition factory. She went back to Warsaw after the war and married Chaim Tabakman. They will emigrate in 1954 to Israel, where her youngest sister Esther was already established. They lived modestly in Holon. They had no children, but Chaim had a daughter from a previous marriage.

Dvora Ryzow married Joseph Tac the tailor in Zuromin (c1925). Their two children Samuel and Brana (Betty) will be born in Zuromin (in 1928 and 1930). Then in 1931 Joseph Tac will leave Zuromin alone to go to Paris. But he will settle in Brussels, the French border having been closed upon him. His wife and his 2 young children will joined him in Brussels a year later in 1932.

Esther Ryzow left Zuromin in 1933 for Israel to join her fiancé Hersh (Zvi) Naimark -- a Drobiner. Their two sons and all their grand-children will be born in Israel.

faivish We have a photo of Faivish and Rachel with their five daughters and their two grand-children in Zuromin. This photo was certainly taken in 1932 just before Dvora's departure to Belgium. Hannah is standing on the far right. Besides her stands the fifth daughter whose name we still don't know. This photo is the only testimony we have of the two sisters. And nothing is known today of the twin sons of Faivish (click on the photo for real size).
